After Diwali, Dev Deepawali is celebrated on the full moon day of Kartik, 15 days later. This year, Yogi Adityanath has announced that 1.2 million lamps will be lit in Kashi, making it a grand and spiritually significant event on the banks of the Ganges.

The Terror of Tripurasura in the Three Worlds 

According to mythology, Tripurasura controlled the three worlds. Consequently, he caused terror, prompting the gods to seek Shiva’s help.

The Slaying of Tripurasura 

It became very difficult for the gods to escape this tyranny. Therefore, they sought help from Lord Shiva, the Supreme God. Lord Shiva accepted their prayers and, as a result, killed Tripurasura, restoring peace in the three worlds.

Gratitude Towards Lord Shiva 

After being freed from Tripurasura’s terror, all the gods, therefore, arrived in Kashi to express their gratitude to Lord Shiva. Upon reaching Kashi, the gods thanked Mahadev and lit lamps on the Ganges to celebrate his victory.

The Festival of Diwali by the Gods 

On this auspicious day, the gods bathed in the Ganges and lit lamps, thereby illuminating Kashi. Consequently, this tradition of celebrating Dev Deepawali has continued.

त्रिपुरासुर का तीनों लोकों में आतंक

पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, त्रिपुरासुर ने तीनों लोकों पर विजय प्राप्त कर लिया था। परिणामस्वरूप, उसने देवताओं में आतंक फैला दिया, जिससे देवताओं ने भगवान शिव से सहायता की प्रार्थना की।

त्रिपुरासुर का वध

देवताओं के लिए इस अत्याचार से बचना बहुत कठिन हो गया था। इसलिए, उन्होंने भगवान शिव, सर्वश्रेष्ठ देवता से सहायता की प्रार्थना की। भगवान शिव ने उनकी प्रार्थना स्वीकार की और परिणामस्वरूप त्रिपुरासुर का वध कर तीनों लोकों में शांति स्थापित की।

भगवान शिव के प्रति आभार

त्रिपुरासुर के आतंक से मुक्ति पाने के बाद, सभी देवता काशी पहुंचे और भगवान शिव के प्रति आभार व्यक्त किया। काशी पहुंचकर, देवताओं ने महादेव का धन्यवाद किया और उनकी विजय को उत्सव के रूप में गंगा में दीप जलाकर मनाया।

इस शुभ दिन पर, देवताओं ने गंगा में स्नान किया और दीप जलाए, जिससे काशी उज्जवल हो उठी। इस प्रकार, देव दीपावली मनाने की परंपरा जारी रही।
